Duet music by Mozart , Schubert, Debussy and Faure.
Charles Timbrell received degrees from Oberlin, University of Michigan and University of Maryland. He also pursued post–graduate studies in Rome with Guido Agosti and in France with Gaby Casadesus. His playing has been described as “masterly with insight” (London Times), and “strong, extroverted and colorful” (New York Times). He is the author of "French Pianism: A Historical Perspective." He is currently Professor of Music and Coordinator of Keyboard Studies at Howard University.
Li-Ly Chang studied at University of Texas, Kansas, and Peabody Conservatory with Sascha Gorodnitzki, Fernando Laires, Leon Fleisher, & Jack Winerock. She is constantly in demand as a lecturer and adjudicator of competitions. Her compositions have been performed in CA, NJ, NY, PA, MD, GA, etc. “The Capriccio by Li-Ly Chang was fun & infectious”- Kennedy Center online review.

Rome Piano Trio is a resident ensemble of the Catholic University of America (CUA) and composed of CUA faculty members.
Jody Gatwood studied violin with Galamian and Makanowitzky at Juilliard, as well as with Gingold at the Meadowmount School, was a prize winner of Montreal International Competition, and was concertmaster of the National Philharmonic for 25 years.
Michael Mermagen, graduate of Juilliard and Peabody, performs on a Nicolo Gagliano cello, Naples 1774, and tours regularly with The Aspen Ensemble.
Ivo Kaltchev is a Bosendorfer Artist. He has performed in Italy, China, France, Germany, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic & the United States. He is the chair of the piano division of Catholic University of America, also the Co-Director of the Washington International Piano Festival and Director of the Bulgarian Music Society. He is a visiting professor at the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing.

Celebrate the holiday season with family with the Washington Saxophone Quartet (WSaxQ):
Reginald Jackson, soprano saxophone;
James Steele, alto saxophone;
Rich Kleinfeldt, tenor saxophone; and
Rick Parrell, baritone saxophone.
The WSaxQ takes full advantages of the flexibility of the instruments to create a wide range of sounds from brassy trumpets to warm winds and strings. They play music from virtually all periods from the Renaissance to Contemporary.
They will feature music by J.S. Bach, “The Toccata & Fugue in D Minor,” Dvorak’s “Prelude & Polka,” Gershwin’s “Three Preludes” and a variety of music by D’Rivera called “New York Suite.” In concert, they guide the audience along with commentary and insight into the music. It will bring you a delightful holiday experience.

Trumpeter Chris Gekker, Professor of Trumpet at the University of Maryland and previously a long time
member of the American Brass Quintet, will join forces with trombonist Brian Priebe and pianist Li-Ly Chang performing “Elizabeth Songbook” by Eric Ewazen. Mr. Ewazen wrote his trumpet music with Mr. Gekker’s sounds in mind.
They will also play “Three Chinese Folk Songs” by James Fry and “Suite” by Jeremiah Clarke for Trumpet and Piano.
Trombonist Brian Priebe is a gifted music director, instrumentalist, and a member of Bay Street Brassworks. He won 2nd prize in both the solo and duet categories at the International Alphorn Festival in Switzerland. He will play Correlli “Sonata”; an arrangement of “Suite Montagnarde for Flute, Alphorn and Organ” by Jean Daetwyler; and a new premiere, “Ali Mountain Fantasy,” by Li-Ly Chang.
Pianist Li-Ly Chang is the Director of the International Young Artist Piano Competition and a commissioned composer in 2011 of the Maryland State Music Teachers Association. She has performed in the United States, Taiwan, Italy, France and China.
